Aoki Denshō: Welsh & Shedar Anime Casts Risa Kageyama as Bechamel

The upcoming original anime Aoki Denshō: Welsh & Shedar has added another voice actor to its cast, with Risa Kageyama joining the series as Bechamel.

The announcement comes just days before the anime's scheduled premiere in Japan, giving viewers another look at the characters who will accompany Welsh and Shedar on their fantasy adventure.

Risa Kageyama Joins the Cast

Risa Kageyama will voice Bechamel, a mischievous and cheerful cat-girl who is described as Welsh's childhood friend and close companion.

Bechamel lives in the same area as Welsh and operates a stall beside him in the local market. Despite her playful personality, she becomes an important part of Welsh's journey and eventually accompanies him on his adventure.

Her bright personality is expected to provide a contrast to some of the more serious conflicts surrounding Welsh, Shedar and the powerful figures pursuing the legendary Dofus.

Kageyama's casting was announced alongside two other additions to the anime's cast: Yuko Kaida as Zabel and Makoto Furukawa as Joris.

Who Is Bechamel?

Bechamel is Welsh's childhood friend and one of the people closest to him before his ordinary life is disrupted.

She is described as an innocent and playful cat-girl who enjoys teasing others. Her cheerful personality also makes her an important source of energy for the group once the adventure begins.

Unlike Welsh, who is initially presented as a countryside boy with a passion for cooking, Bechamel is already familiar with the environment around him. The two characters' friendship gives Welsh a connection to the peaceful life he knew before the events of the story begin.

As Welsh becomes involved in a much larger conflict, Bechamel joins him on his journey and helps support the group with her lively personality.

A Story About Welsh and Shedar

Aoki Denshō: Welsh & Shedar follows two young men whose lives could hardly be more different.

Welsh is a teenage boy from the countryside who loves cooking, while Shedar is a young prince destined to become king.

Their lives become connected through a series of events that draw them into a much larger conflict involving the legendary Dofus, mysterious objects said to possess extraordinary power.

The story centres on the consequences of that power and the choices made by those who obtain it.

Welsh's peaceful life changes after an encounter involving the dragon Azaral. He is subsequently drawn into an adventure that forces him to confront the truth surrounding the world around him.

Shedar also becomes an important part of this journey, with the two characters eventually having to confront powerful forces threatening the future of the world.

Zabel and Joris Also Join the Cast

The announcement also introduced two other characters.

Yuko Kaida voices Zabel, the queen of Bonta.

Zabel is described as a powerful and charismatic ruler who is also cold and ruthless. She possesses five of the six Dofus and intends to use their power to achieve her goal of conquering the world.

Meanwhile, Makoto Furukawa voices Joris, an experienced hero who becomes Welsh's guide and teacher.

Joris previously played an important role in resolving a major conflict and, despite his unusual appearance, possesses considerable physical ability and experience.

Together with Bechamel, the characters expand the group that will accompany Welsh as he discovers more about the world and the forces surrounding the Dofus.

The Main Cast So Far

The anime's announced Japanese voice cast includes:

• Rikuya Yasuda as Welsh
• Yuki Kaji as Shedar
• Yuko Kaida as Zabel
• Makoto Furukawa as Joris
• Risa Kageyama as Bechamel

The casting brings together several established Japanese voice actors for the original fantasy series.

When Does Aoki Denshō: Welsh & Shedar Premiere?

Aoki Denshō: Welsh & Shedar is scheduled to begin broadcasting in Japan on October 2, 2026.

The anime will air on TOKYO MX every Friday at 9:25 PM JST.

The series is being animated by Studio Musket and is an original project produced through Ankama and Studio Dream Catcher.

The series is also connected to Ankama's wider fantasy universe, with the Dofus playing a major role in its story.

Theme Songs

The anime's opening theme will be performed by Hironobu Kageyama and Masami Okui.

Their song, "Bokura no Mirai e," will serve as the opening theme, while Kageyama will also perform the ending theme "Omelette."

The announcement of the songs coincided with the release of the anime's main promotional video.

What to Expect From the Anime

With Welsh beginning his journey as an ordinary countryside boy and Shedar coming from a royal background, the series is built around the meeting of two characters from very different worlds.

Their journey will involve the Dofus, powerful rulers, dragons and the struggle over how extraordinary power should be used.

Bechamel's addition to the cast also gives Welsh a familiar companion from his earlier life, while Joris provides experience and guidance as the adventure develops.

The contrast between the characters should become increasingly important as Welsh discovers that the peaceful life he once knew is connected to a much larger conflict.

For anime fans looking for a new fantasy adventure in the Fall 2026 season, Aoki Denshō: Welsh & Shedar is one of the original series arriving in October.
