One Piece Announces Two New Films: 'God Valley' Set for 2027, 'Baad' for 2029

During the One Piece Day '26 event at Makuhari Messe in Chiba, Japan, Toei Animation officially announced the production of two new theatrical films. This marks the franchise's first new movie projects in five years since One Piece Film: Red premiered in 2022.

Two Movies Are Coming

The two films are titled One Piece Film: God Valley and One Piece Film: Baad. A teaser video was unveiled during the announcement, confirming the titles and release windows.

• One Piece Film: God Valley is scheduled to premiere in Japanese theaters in Summer 2027.
• One Piece Film: Baad is slated for release in 2029.

Both films are already in production.

What Could the Movies Be About?

The teaser for One Piece Film: God Valley provided a major clue about its story, featuring Gol D. Roger, Monkey D. Garp, and Rocks D. Xebec—the three central figures of the legendary God Valley Incident.

This incident took place 38 years before the main story and involved a confrontation between the Rocks Pirates and an unlikely alliance between Roger and Garp. The film will adapt this historical event from the manga's Elbaph Arc, making it the first canon movie in the franchise's history.

The second project, One Piece Film: Baad, remains a mystery. No plot details, characters, or story information have been revealed yet. Its 2029 release is expected to coincide with the 30th anniversary of the One Piece television anime.

Why This Is a Big Deal

This announcement gives One Piece an even bigger lineup of projects beyond the weekly anime. The God Valley film will arrive during the 30th anniversary year of Eiichiro Oda's manga, which began serialization in 1997.

With two movies now in development, the franchise continues to expand its presence while the main story approaches increasingly important territory.
