Black Clover’s Dark Triad Battles Begin

Black Clover Season 2 wasted little time getting back into the action.

After more than five years away, the anime returned with the Spade Kingdom Raid already underway. Now Episode 2 is preparing to push the story into the battles fans have been waiting for.

The episode, titled “The Door to Hell,” is scheduled to air on October 10.

And judging from the official preview, the Magic Knights are about to face some very personal enemies.

Three Battles. Three Grudges.

The raid on the Spade Kingdom is no longer just an infiltration mission.

The Magic Knights have split into three groups, with each group confronting a member of the Dark Triad.

Charlotte Roselei is heading straight toward Vanica, the Dark Triad member connected to the devil Megicula — and the very source of Charlotte's curse.

That makes this more than another captain-versus-villain fight.

Charlotte has spent years carrying the consequences of that curse, and now she finally has a chance to confront the person responsible for it.

Meanwhile, Yuno comes face-to-face with Zenon.

For Yuno, this is personal too.

Zenon was responsible for taking William Vangeance, and Yuno was forced to watch his kingdom suffer because of the Dark Triad's attack.

Now the two are finally standing on opposite sides of the battlefield.

Yuno vs. Zenon is not simply a fight for the Spade Kingdom. It's unfinished business.

Jack and Nacht Take on Dante

Elsewhere, Jack the Ripper and Nacht Faust are fighting Dante Zogratis.

Dante's Body Magic makes him one of the most dangerous opponents in the raid, but Jack and Nacht are managing to keep the battle competitive.

That alone is significant.

Dante isn't just another powerful mage. He is one of the three members of the Dark Triad and a host for a high-ranking devil.

The fact that Jack and Nacht can fight him on relatively even terms shows how much preparation has gone into this operation.

But the battle is far from settled.

And Nacht may have an even bigger problem waiting for him.

Mereoleona Has Her Own Monster to Fight

While the battles inside the Spade Castle are developing, something much larger has appeared elsewhere.

Morris's actions have caused a demon to suddenly appear in the Spade Kingdom.

Standing against it is Mereoleona Vermillion.

The official preview describes her as displaying overwhelming magical power against the creature.

That is exactly the kind of matchup that suits Mereoleona.

She has never been the type of Magic Knight to wait for an opponent to reveal their full strength. When the battlefield gets more dangerous, she simply pushes harder.

Now she is facing something powerful enough to threaten the kingdom while the other Magic Knights are occupied with the Dark Triad.

The Countdown Is Still Running

There is another detail hiding underneath all these fights.

The gates of the underworld have not opened yet.

The Magic Knights still have time to stop the Advent of Qliphoth ritual — but that time is disappearing.

That gives the episode a ticking-clock feeling.

Every fight matters because the heroes cannot simply defeat their opponents whenever they feel like it. They need to win before the ritual reaches the point of no return.

The raid is therefore becoming a race as much as a battle.

Defeat the Dark Triad.

Stop Morris.

Protect the captains.

And prevent the gates of the underworld from opening.

Asta Is Still Part of the Bigger Fight

One interesting aspect of Episode 2 is that Asta isn't at the centre of every battle.

That actually makes the current arc more interesting.

Yuno, Charlotte, Jack, Nacht and Mereoleona are all being given their own moments while Asta continues developing the power he needs for the battles ahead.

The first episode also brought Asta's Demon-Slasher Katana back into the story after Yami's sword became part of his grimoire and gained Anti-Magic properties.

That weapon is expected to become increasingly important as the raid progresses.

Asta may not be fighting every battle right now.

But the longer the raid continues, the harder it becomes to imagine the final confrontation without him.

The Fight Is Finally Splitting Open

The return of Black Clover could have spent several episodes rebuilding the world after the five-year anime break.

Instead, the story has jumped almost immediately into the Spade Kingdom conflict.

Episode 2 looks ready to take that even further.

Charlotte has Vanica.

Yuno has Zenon.

Jack and Nacht have Dante.

Mereoleona has a demon.

And somewhere in the middle of all this, the clock is still ticking toward the opening of the underworld.

The real question is no longer whether the Magic Knights are ready for the raid.

It's whether they can win before the Spade Kingdom becomes the doorway to hell.
