Spoiler warning: This post discusses developments from the first season finale.
It looked like Victoria of Many Faces had reached the end of its story.
Instead, fans got a surprise.
Following the broadcast of Episode 9, the first season finale, the anime officially announced that Season 2 is in production.
But that's not all.
A new special episode has also been confirmed, giving fans another piece of Victoria's story before the next season arrives.
Season 2 Wasn't the Only Surprise
The announcement came immediately after the first season concluded in Japan on September 1, 2026.
A new visual was released alongside the announcement, showing Victoria, Nonna and Jeffrey Asher together.
The image is noticeably warmer than some of the promotional material used earlier in the series, fitting the direction Victoria's life has taken since leaving her former existence behind.
However, there is currently no release date or release window for Season 2.
The same applies to the newly announced special episode.
Victoria's New Life Isn't So Simple
Victoria of Many Faces follows Chloe, a highly skilled former intelligence operative who decides to disappear and build a completely new life.
She takes on the identity of Victoria and moves to the Kingdom of Ashberry, hoping to finally experience the ordinary life she never had.
Of course, things don't go according to plan.
Her exceptional disguise skills, combat abilities and experience as a spy repeatedly become useful as she gets caught up in situations involving the people around her.
Her new life becomes even more complicated after she takes care of Nonna and develops a relationship with Jeffrey Asher, a captain in the knight order.
The Found Family Became One of the Best Parts
One of the most interesting aspects of the anime has been the gradual development of Victoria's new family.
Victoria initially wants freedom from the world she escaped.
Instead, she finds herself becoming responsible for people she genuinely cares about.
Nonna gives Victoria someone to protect, while Jeffrey becomes an important part of the life she is attempting to build.
That makes the Season 2 announcement especially interesting.
The story now has the opportunity to explore what happens when Victoria's carefully constructed new life is tested again.
Her Past Still Isn't Completely Gone
Victoria may have abandoned her former identity, but she can't simply erase everything she learned as an intelligence operative.
Her abilities continue to attract attention, and the people connected to her former life haven't necessarily forgotten about her.
That creates a major source of tension for the future.
Victoria wants to live normally.
The world keeps giving her reasons not to.
Season 2 could therefore push the series further into the conflict between the peaceful life Victoria wants and the dangerous life she was trained for.
A Recap Special Is Also Coming
Before the newly announced special episode, fans will get a chance to revisit the first season.
A recap special titled "What Came Before and What Comes Next" is scheduled to air in Japan on September 8.
It will give viewers an opportunity to look back at the events of the nine-episode first season before the story eventually continues.
Whether the newly announced special will be connected directly to Season 2 or serve as a separate story has not yet been revealed.
Why the Announcement Is a Pleasant Surprise
Victoria of Many Faces wasn't necessarily one of the most heavily discussed anime of the Summer 2026 season.
That's part of what makes the announcement interesting.
The series has quietly built an audience around its combination of espionage, fantasy, action and character-driven drama.
The first season also ended at a point where the characters' new family dynamic created plenty of possibilities for another story.
Now those possibilities are officially going to be explored.
When Is Season 2 Coming?
There is currently no confirmed premiere date or release window for Victoria of Many Faces Season 2.
The same applies to the newly announced special episode.
For now, the only confirmed information is that both projects are in production.
The recap special will air in Japan on September 8, 2026.
More information about Season 2 is expected to be revealed later.
