SSS-Class Revival Hunter Gets January 2027 Anime Premiere

A popular Korean webcomic is officially making the jump to anime.

SSS-Class Revival Hunter has been confirmed as a TV anime scheduled to premiere in January 2027, with Crunchyroll set to stream the series across a large number of international territories.

The first teaser visual and promotional video have also been released, giving fans their first look at Kim Gongja and the Sword Emperor.

Kim Gongja Starts at the Bottom

The story follows Kim Gongja, an extremely weak F-class Hunter living in a mysterious tower filled with monsters.

He spends his days looking up to the strongest Hunters, particularly the legendary Flame Emperor, while wishing that he could become powerful himself.

Then everything changes.

Gongja obtains an extraordinary S-rank ability that allows him to copy another person's skill.

There is, however, a brutal condition attached.

He has to die to activate it.

Death Becomes His Greatest Weapon

The ability initially sounds almost useless.

But Gongja soon discovers that dying doesn't simply mean the end.

His skill allows him to travel back in time when he dies, giving him opportunities to repeat events and change the outcome.

Instead of becoming stronger through conventional training alone, Gongja can use his ability to learn from his mistakes and exploit the knowledge gained from previous timelines.

That turns his biggest weakness into one of his greatest advantages.

The Sword Emperor Enters the Story

The first teaser also introduces the Sword Emperor, one of the most powerful figures in the series.

Satoshi Hino will voice the Sword Emperor, while Takeo Otsuka will play Kim Gongja.

Their relationship becomes particularly important as Gongja's journey develops.

The contrast between an inexperienced F-class Hunter and an overwhelmingly powerful figure gives the story another major source of tension.

A New Studio Is Handling the Anime

The anime is being produced by STUDIO fu, with Hiroaki Sakurai directing.

The production team also includes:

• Sayuri Oba — Series composition
• Takahiro Yoshimatsu — Character designs
• Takeo Otsuka — Kim Gongja
• Satoshi Hino — Sword Emperor

The studio and staff will have the difficult task of translating a webcomic built around time manipulation, repeated deaths and increasingly complicated battles into an anime format.

Another Korean Webcomic Heads to Anime

SSS-Class Revival Hunter joins the growing number of Korean webcomic adaptations receiving major anime productions.

The success of titles such as Solo Leveling has demonstrated how effectively Korean fantasy stories can reach international anime audiences.

SSS-Class Revival Hunter has a different hook, though.

Its main character doesn't simply receive an overwhelmingly powerful ability and immediately become unstoppable.

Instead, Gongja's power comes with an extreme price, and much of his progress depends on how intelligently he uses it.

The Time-Loop Element Could Be the Big Attraction

The ability to return to the past after dying gives the story plenty of opportunities for unexpected developments.

Gongja can make mistakes that would normally end an adventure permanently, learn from them and try again.

That also means battles aren't always about who has the strongest attack.

Sometimes the real question is:

How many times is Gongja willing to die to find a way to win?

That premise could make the anime stand out among the many fantasy action series arriving in 2027.

When Does SSS-Class Revival Hunter Premiere?

SSS-Class Revival Hunter is scheduled to premiere in January 2027.

A specific January premiere date and full episode count have not yet been announced.

Crunchyroll will stream the series across North and Central America, South America, Europe, Africa, Oceania, the Middle East, the CIS, the Indian subcontinent and several Southeast Asian territories.
